Google Messages rolls out Sensitive Content Warnings on Android

Google Messages for Android has now rolled out Sensitive Content Warnings that blur nude images.

In the Messages app, this safety feature detects and blurs images that contain nudity. You need to be signed in to a Google Account in Google Messages for this to work. Processing/classification happens on-device and is powered by Android System SafetyCore. It “doesn’t send identifiable data or any of the classified content or results to Google servers.”

When you receive such an image:

  • To open a helpful resource page, tap Learn why nude images can be harmful.
  • To block the sender’s number, tap Block this number.
  • To open the image, tap Next and then No, don’t view or Yes, view.
  • To go back to the messages, tap Back.
