Android Auto 15.0 rolling out widely, but don’t expect major changes

Following its launch in beta a few weeks ago, Android Auto 15.0 is now rolling out more widely through the general release channel, but despite its number, it’s not a major update by any means.

Despite having some big new features in the pipeline, new Android Auto app versions are generally pretty light on new features.

Case in point is Android Auto 15.0.

The new update started rolling out in beta in mid-August, and has now started generally rolling out to all users via the stable channel. By its major numbering jump alone, one might assume that this is a big jump, but it’s simply not. As per usual, this update brings some under-the-hood changes to address device and vehicle-specific issues, and doesn’t carry a detailed changelog either. Even the “Theme” setting rename we spotted back in August was removed.

That’s not to say it’s not worth updating. There are always niche the Play Store to check for Android Auto app updates.

Meanwhile, we are still waiting on some major Android Auto features to be released, such as a light theme and Gemini support, the latter of which Google recently teased is right around the corner.
