First Snapdragon Chromebook ‘Cheza’ appears in benchmarks, scoring poorly

Qualcomm has been more than happy in recent weeks to demonstrate various new use cases for their Snapdragon processors, including being used for a Windows computer. This may soon extend into the realm of Chrome OS, with the company’s first ever Chromebook, powered by the Snapdragon 845. Now, Geekbench benchmarks have appeared for the device, though with surprisingly low scores.

Sony Xperia Z5 family shows up on video, including 5.5-inch Premium model

Ahead of its official press announcement in Berlin later this week, Sony’s upcoming flagship smartphone family has been shown on video in what appears to be a pre-release interview recording with press, which somehow managed to find its way to YouTube. The video is in French, and YouTube’s auto-translating tool isn’t the hottest. Still, we’re now expecting Sony to release a trio of smartphones.

Qualcomm to make $1.4 billion in cuts, restructure board after disappointing year

The more-efficient Snapdragon 810 v2.1 is already shipping aboard the HTC One M9

OnePlus came out not long ago to say that the upcoming mixed history with heat problems, but the company reassured us that it was going with some kind of updated “version 2.1” of the chip that didn’t have as many problems — and they said they were optimizing it themselves, too.

Report: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ due to be announced on August 12, released August 21

By now we’ve heard multiple rumors and reports on Samsung’s next generation phablet. In today’s Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ will be unveiled and released to the public. Citing its “insiders”, the report states that the Galaxy Note 5 will be announced on August 12th and be available to buy shortly afterwards on August 21th.

HTC One M9 test shows 131 degree surface temp while running GFXBench

It looks like there is definitely some truth to evidence suggesting that the Snapdragon 810 has been Tweakers has taken the HTC One M9 through a series of tests, and it looks like overheating problems with Qualcomm’s processor are still very much a valid concern. Specifically, while running GFXBench, the site has recorded the HTC One M9 to have a surface temperature of around 55 degrees Celsius—or 131 degrees Fahrenheit.
