iPhone Mirroring debuted on the Mac last year as a standout new feature, and in macOS Tahoe it gets even better thanks to one key addition: Live Activities support.
Live Activities are new for iPhone Mirroring in macOS Tahoe
Apple’s Continuity features have long been a strength of the company’s hardware ecosystem. And when iPhone Mirroring launched last year in macOS Sequoia, it quickly became one of the best examples of that.
This year in macOS Tahoe, iPhone Mirroring gets upgraded to bring Live Activities from your iPhone to the Mac.
The way this works is entirely automatic and streamlined.
In macOS Tahoe, Live Activities from your iPhone will start being accessible from the Mac’s menu bar.
You can view a miniature version of the Live Activity right inside the menu bar. Depending on how much space is available, you’ll either see a small Live Activity icon or a compact view of the actual Live Activity.
Clicking on the Live Activity in the menu bar expands it to show full details, just like you would see on your iPhone.
Double-clicking, meanwhile, opens the Live Activity’s source app on your iPhone using iPhone Mirroring. Essentially, the double-click functions like a tap on the iPhone’s Live Activity would.
This extension of iPhone Mirroring is just the latest example of how Apple is making its various products work better together with Continuity features.
