Frequently asked questions
Google Shopping ads are created from your product data and include photos of your product, price, store name, and other helpful details. Unlike text ads, Shopping ads give users a more complete view of the items you sell before they click, resulting in more qualified leads. Learn more about how to create Shopping ads by visiting the What makes up a Shopping ad page.
If you have a Google Merchant Center account, you can create Shopping ad campaigns using your product data. You can choose from a Performance Max campaign, or a Standard Shopping campaign depending on your campaign goals. Your ads can appear in most Google ad channels including the Shopping tab, Google Search, Google Images, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and the Google Display Network. Learn more about Shopping ad benefits and how they work by visiting the About Shopping ads page.
Before you can set up Google Shopping ads, you need to sign up for a Google Merchant Center account and upload all your product data such as title, price, and images. You’ll also need to link your Merchant Center account with your Google Ads account to generate Shopping ads and create campaigns. Learn more about how to get started by visiting the Onboarding guide for Shopping ads page.
Google Smart Shopping campaigns were automated campaigns that use machine learning to help retailers reach more people. In 2022, Google upgraded all Smart Shopping campaigns to Performance Max campaigns to give retailers access to more inventory and formats.
