Saturday Night Live money.
In an interview for New York Magazine, the comedians opened up about their “biggest indulgence” after receiving their first paycheck for working on the NBC late-night sketch show.
“Do you guys know what they pay us?” Davidson replied. “It’s like three grand an episode, so I think I got dinner.”
In the same video the publication shared on social media, Sudeikis discussed his salary as a first-year writer on SNL.
“I mean you don’t really make enough money to make big purchases,” the Ted Lasso star said. “So, I think New York rent was probably the biggest purchase I made after writing on SNL the first year.”

Other SNL stars admitted to buying furniture with their paychecks like Cheri Oteri, who said she got a couch, adding, “I have gotten it reupholstered three or four times. I remember a designer coming over in tears and he goes, ‘Oh, those arms are too high. We’re going to get rid of that couch.’ I said, ‘Oh no. No, you’re not. Not today, Satan!'”
Bowen Yang said he went “to Saks across the street buying a pair of Gucci shoes. The kind that everyone got, and the kind that I wouldn’t feel super cool wearing out now.”
Julia Louis Dreyfus said she “I bought a pair of shoes that were out of my budget,” noting that she thinks they were $75.

What do you mean Julia Louis Dreyfus had a budget? She’s a billionaire heiress.
She didn’t live off of them tho. Just what I heard
Shit I wish I got paid 3k a week. Yeah seems like a stressful gig but you’re with homies, funny ppl, you get to meet a ton of ppl. Opens opportunities for other things, big commercials, movies etc.
It’s not 3k/week, it’s 3k/episode, there are usually 21 or 22 new episodes/year. So that’s like 66k, which isn’t a living wage in NYC. I’m sure they’ve all got a lot of other sources of income though.
Plus the speaking engagements and comedy show they do still while working.
Y’all act like it’s an exclusive job and they’re literally in the “office” 24/6.
Never was the case.
Most of these people still do standup or can staff on comedy series at the same time.
THEY SHOOT ONE EPISODE A WEEK. then he’s off the rest of the year, 30 weeks off. when he does stand-up and appears in movies and did TV shows, including his own show.
Not per week, per episode. And you pay about $3000 for a tiny apartment in NYC. So their seasonal salary probably paid off their apartment per year.
Welcome to the world the rest of us live in
I wish I could like this post. I’m over here thinking, y’all are complaining about making $3 grand an episode rather than bragging? 😆 I don’t even make that in a month and I live in Florida, a very expensive place to live (born and raised here)
You cannot get a 1BD apartment in NYC for $3K/month. It’s more like $5K.
Thank goodness for Pete they shoot an episode a week. Which means he made $12,000 a month.
No – they shoot a few weeks in a row, then off a few weeks in a row. In total they have about 22 shows a year, which is less than half the weeks in a year (26 weeks).
wait, so… he worked 26 weeks instead of 22? is that your point?
Okay, so — 10, 11 grand a month.
Poor guy. Only three times more than the average American.
That’s like $3000 per laugh.
If they paid the SNL guys per laugh no one woulda made a dime on that show since Dick In A Box.
