Disney’s latest live-action musical, The Little Mermaid, which was released in theaters in May, is now “part of your world” at home on VOD!
The star(fish)-studded cast features Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle the seagull.
The film follows the classic tale (or should I say tail) of Ariel, a mermaid who is fascinated by the depths of the ocean and what lies above water and on land. When she finds herself in a chance encounter with Prince Eric and saves him from drowning by pulling him back to shore, he falls in love with her.
Ariel then takes a doomed deal with Ursula, the sea-witch who happens to be her father King Triton’s (Javier Bardem) sister, trading her voice for legs to live on land.
The film is accompanied by Disney music icon’s Lin-Manuel Miranda, such as Prince Eric’s ballad “Wild Uncharted Waters.”

The film is now available to purchase on digital platforms starting Tuesday, July 25. You can buy or rent the movie on iTunes and more.
WHEN WILL THE LITTLE MERMAID BE AVAILABLE ON DVD?
The outlet also revealed that the film will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD on September 19. The home media version of the film will include a sing-along version (as if you needed any more reason to belt out “Part of Your World”), as well as “Hotter Under the Water,” a five-part documentary about the making of the film.

*** UPDATE (8/15/23): The Little Mermaid premieres September 6 on Disney+! ***
There is currently no set streaming date for The Little Mermaid on Disney+. Nonetheless, oftentimes Disney+ begins streaming movies about 90 days after their release in theaters, per Avatar: The Way of Water, which took longer than 90 days to be released on Disney+ after its theatrical debut.
