‘Gladiator 2’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘Gladiator 2’ Be Streaming Free on Paramount+?

Who needs to go to the movie theater this holiday break, when Gladiator 2 is coming to digital platforms tomorrow?

That’s right, just one month after this highly-anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 action movie, Gladiator, opened in theaters, it’s already headed to premium-video-on-demand. Directed once again by Ridley Scott, this sequel brings a new cast of characters to the world of ancient Roman combat sport. Paul Mescal stars as Lucius Verus, the now-grown nephew of Roman emperor Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix in the original movie). Pedro Pascal stars as General Marcus Acacius, while Denzel Washington stars as Macrinus, who mentors Mescal’s character in the ways of being a gladiator.

The film was not a flop, making over $401.1 million at the worldwide box office, so far. But in this day-and-age, even big blockbusters are getting pushed to “premium” video-on-demand after just a month in theaters. Paramount likely hopes to make an extra chunk of change from people willing to pay $25 for a digital copy of the film.

But before you take out your wallet, you should know that Gladiator 2 will like be streaming free to subscribers on Paramount+ very soon.

Where to watch Gladiator 2 on streaming:

Beginning on Tuesday, December 24, 12 a.m. Eastern Time—which is also December 23 at 9 p.m Pacific Time—Gladiator 2 will be available to buy digitally on Amazon Prime the movie costs $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after you hit “play.”

Gladiator 2 is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but we do expect to see Gladiator 2 streaming on Paramount+ soon, because it is a Paramount movie.

When will Gladiator 2 be streaming on Paramount Plus?

The Gladiator 2 Paramount+ release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when the film will be streaming, based on previous Paramount releases.

Another recent Paramount film, Smile 2, was released in theaters on October 18; released on digital platforms one month after opening in theaters, on November 19; and began streaming on Paramount+ a little less than two months after opening in theaters, on December 2.

If Gladiator 2 follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie streaming on Paramount+ around late January or early February 2025.
