‘Billy Joel: And So It Goes’

Billy Joel: And So It Goes affords the Piano Man the opportunity to sing us the song of his storied career — including the origins of his 1973 classic. A fair warning that the Joel’s story is of course a lengthy one; the two-part documentary runs just under five hours. But Part one, which is now streaming on HBO Max, captures the extremely humble beginnings of the Piano Man long before he was selling out Madison Square Garden. The doc delves into more than just his catalog, featuring interviews with collaborators, friends, and even past loves of Joel’s, and also numerous interviews with the artist himself. Part Two airs on HBO on Friday, July 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with streaming on HBO Max.
