About Fabiano do Nascimento
The music of Brazilian guitarist Fabiano do Nascimento is steeped in the traditions of samba and choro as well as American jazz and pop. After a stint as a Los Angeles session player, he formed the Latin jazz group Triorganico and released the 2009 highlight Convivência. Over the following decade, he continued his explorations, launching a solo career with 2015's Dança dos Tempos. Fabiano's 2021 release Ykytu featured the most tranquil and refined distillation of his sound to date. 2023's Mundo Solo -- one of four albums by the guitarist to appear that year -- utilized Hermeto Pascoal's "Universal Music" concept to reveal his influences and musical affinities at one time, while rejecting restrictions imposed by nationality, peers, or formalist tendencies. In January 2024, Real World Records issued Room, a collaboration between do Nascimento and American saxophonist Sam Gendel. In August he self-released Olhos D'água. In December, he followed with Harmonicos, recorded in duo with iconic Japanese guitarist Shin Sasakubo. The album was recorded in a three day session following their first duo concert.
