

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter has already lived a few lives—farmhand, nanny, door-to-door solar panel salesperson, account manager for an adult content platform, blogger, podcaster, full-time musician. The North Carolina native went viral on TikTok in 2020 for her wry, witty indie-rock breakthrough “Porn Star Tits”, going on to record a pair of EPs before releasing her debut full-length, Going Through It, in 2024. On its follow-up, Good Story, McLamb interrogates the impulse to narrativise her life, questioning the habit of self-victimisation and wondering whether “doing it for the story” is worth the pain. “My stories kept me safe, but now I understand/A story is a lifeboat, and sometimes there is land,” she sings on the introspective “Every Year”. And yet, on the folksy “Talisman”, the compulsion persists: “What is there to do except to write it down?”
