RY X is the stage name of Australian singer-songwriter Ry Cuming. ∙ Inspired by the music of Jeff Buckley, Cuming began writing songs at age 16. ∙ His 2010 self-titled full-length debut featured appearances by Sara Bareilles and Maroon 5’s Jesse Carmichael. ∙ Renaming himself RY X, he released the 2013 EP Berlin, whose title track became a hit in the UK and several European countries. ∙ The Acid, his electronic side-project with DJ/producers Adam Freeland and Steve Nalepa, released their acclaimed debut album, Liminal, in 2014. ∙ At Rihanna’s request, RY X remixed her hit “Love on the Brain” for the 2016 EP Love on the Brain (Dance Remixes). ∙ His 2019 solo LP, Unfurl, reached No. 11 on the UK’s Independent Albums chart.
