At least one person was not about to be delayed by yesterday’s flood – a baby who decided she was being born no matter what her mom or Mother Nature did.
A 44-year-old Bronx woman pregnant with her 10th child got stuck in the deluge at the worst possible moment – her water had just broken. She panicked when her car stalled on the waterlogged Major Deegan Expressway.
Emergency medical technician Richard Machado found the soon-to-be parents at 179th Street. Police helped free the couple and Machado rode with the woman to the hospital – where she gave birth to a baby girl, seven hours after being trapped.
