The newly appointed law guardian representing the Giuliani kids during their parents’ split is a veteran of one of the city’s nastiest and most highly publicized divorce cases.
Jo Ann Douglas – whom Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Judith Gische yesterday assigned to represent Andrew, 15, and Caroline, 11 – represented little Caleigh Perelman during the epic Ron Perelman-Patricia Duff divorce and custody melee.
The low-key lawyer also represented the young son of civil-rights activist Richard Emery and “Footloose” star Lori Singer during their contentious divorce.
Despite often being caught in the middle of acrimonious bust-ups, Douglas said she enjoys her job because “I love representing kids.”
Parents, however, don’t always love her – Duff accused her of constantly siding with Duff’s billionaire ex-husband.
Douglas is highly respected by judges and her peers.
Giuliani lawyer Raoul Felder called her “very reasonable, very responsible and level-headed.”
A lawyer since 1985, the New York University Law School graduate has been representing children and the elderly for the past 10 years.
