NYPD Capt. Eric Adams, a long-time department critic, announced yesterday he has retired to pursue a vacant state Senate seat in Brooklyn.
Adams, the founder of One Hundred Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, was second-in-command at the Sixth Precinct in Greenwich Village.
He will leave the department next month.
“I would like to take [my] experience to the state capital to draft legislation to make a better life for all New Yorkers,” he said.
