Janie – the last Checker cab to roam New York City’s mean streets for fares – goes back on the auction block next month.
The yellow four-door sedan, with room for five in the back, will be up for bid June 4 at a Christie’s auction in Greenwich, Conn.
Ex-owner Earl Johnson paid $9,000 for Janie in 1978 and in 20 years picked up the likes of Muhammad Ali, Walter Cronkite and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
