BLACKOUT’S OT PRICE: $2.5M

The blackout that kept some Queens neighborhoods in the dark for 10 sweaty days in July cost the city more than $2.5 million in overtime, according to Comptroller William Thompson’s office.

Deputy Comptroller Marcia Van Wagner estimated that the tab would come in between $2.5 million and $3 million for cops and firefighters, who earned most of the overtime.

The figures are in line with Mayor Bloomberg’s prediction that the OT bill wouldn’t put a major dent in the city’s $53 billion budget.

Stu Loeser, the mayor’s spokesman, said the city wouldn’t try to recover the money from Con Ed because the law was on the utility’s side.
