A civilian NYPD property clerk has been busted for stealing $30,000 in jewelry and money from defendants and victims, authorities said.
Kevin Byrd, 34, of Queens, allegedly pilfered the property while working at the 28th Precinct station house in Harlem.
In his biggest heist, he took $14,000 in gold and diamonds, telling the defendant who owned it that it had been lost, police said.
