Weird But True

WEIRD BUT TRUE

Wasn’t getting his wish punishment enough?

A Canadian man was sentenced to 60 days in jail for asking seven women to kick him in the groin because he was “curious” about how it would feel. More curious was the charge to which Jarrett Loft pleaded guilty: “mischief to property.”

Loft, 28, had approached the women separately in parks in the city of Guelph, Ontario.

Finland’s foreign minister is facing calls for his resignation after it was revealed he sent 200 text messages to a stripper.

Ikka Kanerva first claimed that the messages texted to 29-year-old Joanna Tukiainen were related to her performing at his 60th-birthday party, but later confessed that some weren’t appropriate.

“Would you like to do it in an exotic place? Where could it be?” asked Kanerva in one text.

A thief walked out of a Norwegian aquarium carrying a small crocodile – named “Taggen” – and now authorities are warning that the crook is risking losing a finger.

“It has a solid bite,” said Bergen aquarium director Kees Oscar Ekeli about the 21/3-foot-long croc. “You could lose a few fingers, but no vital organs.”

A British airline has hired 172 temps to fly back and forth over the Irish Sea to meet a passenger quota required for receiving a $550,000 rebate from an airport.

“It probably sounds like an early” April Fool’s Day gag, conceded the airline, Flybe, whose earlier bids for a partial rebate from the Norwich airport were rebuffed.

The temps are paid up to $80 each on their trips between Dublin and Norwich.

First global warming, now this.

An American botanist has filed a lawsuit in Hawaii attempting to delay an experiment in a new European subatomic particle smasher that he fears could create a black hole that eventually would suck up the entire Earth.

Many physicists have discounted the threat, but are unable to say for sure that it is not even remotely possible.
