Chad, a 31-year-old IT project manager, is an Upper East Side guy and proud of it. Meanwhile, Suzie, a 30-year-old designer who lives in Inwood, admitted she wasn’t a big fan of Chad’s stomping ground. The preppy guy and his artsy date dined on surf ‘n’ turf at the refined Benjamin Steak House. They got along swimmingly, but was it enough for a girl to start a love affair on the “other” side of Central Park?

Suzie arrived looking cute, though I immediately knew she wasn’t my type. She was a bit shy at first, but after the first few sips of wine, she began to feel at ease. I found it sweet that she agreed to have dinner with me at a steakhouse even though she doesn’t eat meat.
It wasn’t difficult to make conversation with Suzie. She’s extremely intelligent, and I was impressed that she speaks many different languages. I taught her how to say the numbers in Japanese, and she picked it up quicker than anyone I’ve ever met! I also liked that she’s from Texas. Cute accent.
Suzie and I talked about our dating histories, and I found her stories to be a bit hectic but entertaining. I hope that she doesn’t feel that all men treat women so badly.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed our dinner at Benjamin Steak House, and our host, Victor, was very helpful describing his favorite dishes. I would recommend the seafood platter and the filet any day!
Overall, I felt the date was pretty platonic. Suzie was nice and I enjoyed talking to her, but I didn’t feel a spark. The night ended with a hug and well wishes. I can see her as a really good friend.

My first impression of Chad was that he looked like a nice guy, but not my type. He’s a bit too clean-cut. I usually go for guys with a quirky, “chic geek” look. He was polite and gentlemanly, though.
Once we got to our table, Chad and I started chatting, and he was very easy to talk to. Still, I kept thinking he was someone I’d rather be friends with. There just wasn’t any attraction on my side.
We ordered wine and appetizers and continued talking. I found out Chad’s a triplet and a project manager, which were both very interesting. I’ve never met a triplet before! Chad told me his favorite part of the city is the Upper East Side, and the first thing I thought is that he looks like he’d live there; he’s a little preppy.
We ordered dinner, and I soon discovered that Chad and I did have some commonalities, such as our love of travel and closeness with family. I told him a few of my horrible New York dating stories, which he thought were funny.
We spent about three hours together, total. He walked me to the train, and we hugged goodbye. I’m not interested in going on another date. We could be friends, but I doubt we’ll hang out again.
