HERO HIT-AND-RUN TEEN’S TALE OF TERROR

The brave Brooklyn teen who broke his arm trying to shield his kid brother from a careening Mercedes told The Post yesterday his pain was “nothing compared to my brother being alive.”

But Dwayne Jackson, 15, was helpless against the driver, who ran after hitting the boys Friday on a Bedford-Stuyvesant sidewalk. A suspect, Samuel Branch, 18, was caught yesterday.

Dwayne’s brother, Dillion, 5, bore the brunt of the impact, and remains in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital.

“I just wanted to make sure [Dillion] was fine,” Dwayne said from his bed at Woodhull Hospital, where he was recovering from a broken arm and dislocated shoulder. “Forget about me. It was about my brother.”

“I tried to take [Dillion’s] hand and roll out of the way, but [the car] was going too fast,” said the teen. “I jumped in front of him to take the impact.”

Dillion underwent successful surgery yesterday, relatives said.

Branch, of Brooklyn, was arrested after being treated at Kings County Hospital. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license, cops said.

He told reporters last night, “I was trying to help those kids,” as he was led from the 79th Precinct.
