A young woman was mugged and sexually assaulted as she walked to her home near Manhattan’s notorious “clubland” early yesterday, police said.
A thug approached the victim from behind on West 28th Street, near Seventh Avenue at 5:25 a.m., punched her in the head, dragged her behind a Dumpster, assaulted her and took off with her cellphone, sources said.
The woman was treated at a hospital and released.
The area around “clubland” has been dogged by crime in recent years.
