Report: RBNY to deal Brunner to Crew

Expect the Red Bulls to get a draft pick _ probably a conditional one _ from Columbus for the rights to Eric Bunner, according to the Columbus Dispatch. If you remember, they drafted the 6-foot-4 defender last year, but he left the team when asked to take a developmental contract, playing last season at Miami in the USL.

The left-footed Brunner came back to camp this year, trying to earn a senior contract, but he isn’t in the Red Bulls’ plans. Now the Ohio State product has been in camp with his hometown Crew _ who beat RBNY in the MLS Cup final _ and they’re expected to finally work out a deal for his rights. And this time, apparently he’s willing to accept the same developmental deal he refused to take in New York.

And, since it’s likely the last time I get to use it….
