RYE BROOK, N.Y. — A Florida convention organizer was found killed in his room at an upscale hotel in suburban New York where he had organized a meeting, police said Monday.
The beaten body of Ben Novack Jr., 53, was found Sunday at the Hilton Rye Town, said Rye Brook Chief of Police Gregory Austin. Novack’s wife returned from breakfast to find him on the floor next to the bed, still in his pajamas, Austin said.
The attack did not appear random, he said. Police are asking for help from anyone with information about the killing.
Novack was from Fort Lauderdale and was president and CEO of Convention Concepts Unlimited. He had organized a weekend convention in Rye Brook for about 1,200 Spanish-speaking businesspeople nationwide.
Novack always attended conventions he organized, said company assistant Danica Parrott.
