Omega-3 fatty acid supplements did nothing to slow memory declines in people with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease, but showed promise in a study of healthy people with slight memory complaints, researchers said yesterday.
The findings from a government study suggest taking supplements of DHA does not arrest Alzheimer’s in people who have already developed the disease, but Martek Biosciences Corp. DHA supplements helped restore some mental acuity in healthy people, a Martek study found.
