WASHINGTON — The Mets have had little to say today on a published report that club vice president Tony Bernazard recently challenged the players on Double-A affiliate Binghamton to a fight in the clubhouse.
The Mets released a one-sentence statement this afternoon that said: “We take these reports very seriously and are investigating the matters.”
Today at Nationals Park, Omar Minaya basically refused comment beyond saying the team is investigating Bernazard. It does appear, though, that Bernazard will not be visiting Mets minor-league affiliates anytime soon.
