SI ferry’s bidder end

Act fast and you could sail away with a ferry nice deal.

Bidding closes at 8:16 p.m. tonight on the former Staten Island ferryboat Gov. Herbert H. Lehman — available on eBay with a minimum asking price of $500,000.

The ferry has been on the block for more than a month without drawing a single bid.

Before it was offered on the auction site, the seller, Atlantic Equipment Inc. of upstate Bloomingburg, had knocked its asking price down from $1.2 million to $1 million. It could be used as a ferry, floating attraction, casino or private club — “all sorts of different things,” said Pat Dolan, who is brokering the sale for Atlantic Equipment.

After using it for 42 years, the city sold the Lehman in 2007 for $152,000. That was three times what the city got for the ferryboat American Legion, which went for scrap for $49,999.99.
