The Islanders traded winger Brian Rolston and defenseman Mike Mottau to the Bruins for two prospects shortly before Monday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline.
The Islanders got 23-year-old winger Yannick Riendeau and 21-year-old defenseman Marc Cantin.back from Boston in the deal.
Rolston, 39, had four goals and five assists in 39 games this season and had cleared waivers earlier in the day. Mottau had returned to the ice in the Islanders’ 5-2 loss to the Senators on Sunday after missing 26 games with a concussion.
