SANFORD, Fla. — The Florida police chief in charge of the investigation into Trayvon Martin’s death has been fired.
Sanford city manager Norton Bonaparte issued a statement last night saying the decision to ax Bill Lee, who has been on administrative leave, was taken in a bid to mend a divided community.
“After much thoughtful discussion, I have determined the police chief needs to have the trust and respect of the elected officials and the confidence of the entire community,” Bonaparte said.
