WASHINGTON — President Obama attacked Mitt Romney over energy policy on the campaign trail in battleground states yesterday, ripping the GOP candidate for opposing an expiring wind-energy tax credit.
“[Romney] said new sources of energy like these are ‘imaginary,’ ” Obama said in Iowa, where new wind farms are common. “If you don’t believe in coal, if you don’t believe in energy independence for America, just say it,” Romney said.
Romney, campaigning in Ohio’s coal country, accused Obama of waging a “war on coal” through environmental regulations.
