Canseco out to K this drug

ALBANY — José Canseco, a slugger whose baseball career was tarnished by his admitted use of performance-enhancing drugs, was at the state Capitol yesterday — urging the Legislature to ban a pre-workout dietary supplement.

DMAA is on the “do not take” lists of the military, the NCAA, the NFL and Major League Baseball yet remains available over the counter in stores — and has been linked to the death of two US Marines.

The parents of one of them, Pvt. Michael Sparling, joined Canseco and state Senate co-leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx) in their plea.

“A lot of young kids,” Canseco warned, “will take any risk to get where their idols are — that $100 million contract.”
