Record 50k in city’s shelters

The number of homeless people in New York City shelters set a record in January, averaging 50,000 people per night for the fist time ever.

That number included 21,000 children, which is 1 percent of all the young people in the city, The Wall Street Journal said, citing a report by the Coalition for the Homeless.
