Celeb-favorite fashion designer grabs pricey UES townhouse

Fashion-forward designer Philipp Plein, 37 — whose new friends include Grace Jones, Snoop Dogg, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea and Theophilus London — continues to spend money like it’s going out of style.

After opening at least eight stores this year, spending around $2.8 million on one fashion show alone and looking at a $25.5 million duplex at the Plaza Hotel — as Gimme Shelter previously reported — the German national has purchased a stunning six-story townhouse at 162A E. 71st St. that was last asking $13.5 million following a broker switch. (The townhouse was asking $14.8 million last year.)

The renovated six-bedroom, six-bathroom (and two half-bath) home comes with five fireplaces and three outdoor spaces, including a garden, a south-facing terrace and a landscaped roof deck. There’s even a finished basement and an oak-paneled elevator that is “oversized,” according to the listing — unlike Plein’s models.

In case you were wondering, Plein also commutes between his headquarters in Lugano, Switzerland and his homes in Cannes and Bel Air. The mansion opens with a grand foyer and a marble floor warmed by radiant heat. The foyer leads to an open French country-style chef’s kitchen.

There’s also a double-door pantry off the kitchen, then a fireplace in the “casual” dining area that leads to the garden.

This floor also contains space for a home office or servants’ quarters.

The parlor floor boasts a formal dining area with a rear lounge, 11-foot ceilings with moldings, and a marble-mantled fireplace along with extra spaces for entertainment, a wet bar, dishwasher and wine storage along with a “discreet” guest bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

The next floor is the library level with a triple-exposed terrace, twin woodburning fireplaces and a large wet bar with a refrigerator, bar sink and additional wine storage.

The next floor up is the master suite, which comes with a spa-like bathroom with an “imperial-sized” soaking tub, separate stall shower, “sister-sinks” and a walk in closet.

The remaining floors contain the rest of the bedrooms but could also be used as entertaining space — with the lush roof deck as the crown jewel.

The listing brokers were Douglas Elliman’s John Gomes and Fredrik Eklund, the reality TV star. Both declined to comment.
