Internet turns Jordan Spieth’s meltdown into Cam Newton rant

Jordan Spieth’s epic meltdown at the Masters is the biggest disappointment of his career, but that didn’t stop the Twitterverse from making the nightmarish moment all about Cam Newton.

After the reigning champ’s back-nine choke at Augusta on Sunday, in which he gave up six strokes in three holes, he was interviewed by CBS’ Jim Nantz and had to hand off the green jacket to new champ Danny Willett.

Though he did brush off cameras on the 18th hole, the Internet immediately began chiming in on how he handled himself compared to Newton’s post-Super Bowl sulk fest.

Newton, who abruptly left the postgame interviews following the Panthers’ 24-10 loss to the Broncos in Super Bowl 50, was highly criticized for his behavior and dubbed a sore loser.

Though many of Newton’s supporters were quick to hit back at the critics on social media, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson made sure to commend Spieth for keeping his composure.

Newton was compared negatively to Wilson,  who spoke to the media at length after his goal-line interception handed Super Bowl XLIX to the Patriots the year before.
