Ivanka Trump says she’s a living, breathing example that puts the lie to accusations that her father is a misogynist.
In fact, she said, Donald Trump is a “feminist.”
“People talk about gender equality,” she told the Sunday Times of London. “He has lived it, he has employed women at the highest levels of the Trump Organization for decades, so I think it’s a great testament to how capable he thinks women are and has shown that his whole life.”
Trump’s treatment of women has been an issue from Day 1 of his campaign.
After Fox News host Megyn Kelly said Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever.”
But Ivanka Trump, 34, said her father was no sexist.
“My father is a feminist. He’s a big reason I am the woman I am today,” she told the newspaper.
“He always told me and showed me that I could do anything I set my mind to if I married vision and passion with work ethic. He’s also surrounded me with strong female role models who have done just that since I was a little girl.”
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee needs to boost his support among women if he’s going to be competitive against Hillary Clinton in November.
In a Fox News Channel poll last week, the billionaire was clobbered among female voters, who favored Clinton 48 percent to 29 percent.
And a survey last week by the Public Policy Polling showed 58 percent of respondents had a negative view of him and 35 percent had a positive one.
But Ivanka said voters need to know her dad to love him.
“My father has tremendous warmth,” she said. “He is a fiercely loyal person to his family and friends. He has an amazing — and albeit sometimes wicked — sense of humor. He has been an unbelievable father to me and my siblings.”
And The Donald has apparently imparted his wisdom to his grandkids, as well.
Ivanka recalled spotting a pothole during a recent walk out in the city with 4½-year-old daughter Arabella Rose Kushner.
“She points at me and looks at it and says, ‘Mom, Grandpa would not like that,’ ” Ivanka recalled. “We laugh and then she goes, ‘You know, that sort of meticulousness that he has.’ He is incredibly close with my children.”
