Special-needs teen goes missing in the Bronx

A special-needs teenage girl was declared missing Tuesday after being seen leaving her family’s home early in the morning, police say.

Zaahira Farouk, 18, who has a form of autism, was reported as missing after last being seen leaving her home in the Morrisania section of the Bronx around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Zaahira is described by her family as 5 feet 9 and 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing braids in her hair, dark Puma sneakers and blue jeans.

Because Zaahira is a special-needs child, police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating her as quickly as possible.
