Tom Brady is so powerful, he doesn’t have to lift a finger to play the hero.
Brady’s jersey-theft debacle after Super Bowl LI helped Von Miller reunite with his Super Bowl 50 MVP-winning helmet and has since opened Brandon Jacobs’ eyes to the shady misplacement of his jersey from the Giants’ 2008 Super Bowl victory over the Patriots.
Big Blue’s former running back, who retired in 2014 after nine seasons, explained how the FBI investigation into Brady’s missing jersey led him to realize the No. 27 he’s had framed and hanging on his wall at home for years — next to his jersey from the Giants’ 2012 Super Bowl win — is not the one he wore in the game. Jacobs shared his revelation on his Twitter account in February, two days after Brady couldn’t locate the jersey he wore in guiding the Patriots to a historic, 25-point comeback victory.
Jacobs’ suspicions of the jersey’s authenticity began two years ago, when he received an email from a collector saying he had each piece of Jacobs’ Super Bowl XLII game uniform — jersey, helmet, pants and thigh pads — after a friend bought them off a Giants equipment manager, according to The MMBQ. Jacobs said he remembers entrusting his jersey to an equipment manager after the game and retrieving what he thought was the same one the next day, when the Giants returned home.
