Trump has zero patience for wiretap questions

President Trump abruptly cut short an interview and dismissed a reporter from the Oval Office during a tense back-and-forth over his claims that former President Obama “had my wires tapped.”

Questioned by CBS anchor John Dickerson in an interview that aired Monday about unsubstantiated allegations that Obama authorized surveillance at Trump’s Fifth Avenue building, the president said,” I have my own opinions, you can have your own opinions.”

Dickerson pressed: “But I want to know your opinions. You’re the president of the United States.”

Trump waved his hand dismissively at Dickerson and said, “That’s enough. Thank you. Thank you very much.”

He then walked away from the interview and stood behind his desk in the Oval Office.

Dickerson, in an appearance later on “CBS This Morning” said Trump’s intent was obvious to him.

“I think it was pretty clear that I was to escort myself out, or I would be escorted out – I would be moved along,” he said. “It was time for our conversation to be over.”

In the interview, taped Saturday on Trump’s 100th day in office, Dickerson asked about the claims that the US intelligence community has disputed and the White House has not supported with any evidence.

“I don’t stand by anything. I just​ – you can take it the way you want. I think our side’s been proven very strongly. And everybody’s talking about it. And frankly it should be discussed​,” Trump said.

​”But I’m asking you. Because you don’t want it to be fake news,” Dickerson responded.

“You don’t have to ask me,” Trump said.

“Why not?”

“Because I have my own opinions. You can have your own opinions,” Trump said.

Moments later, Trump ended the interview.
