Did Brandon Roy get shot? No one seems to know

It’s unclear if ex-NBA All-Star Brandon Roy was indeed shot, or if Roy is the victim of erroneous reporting.

The ex-Blazers guard was reportedly the Seattle Times reported.

“The allegations are false. Coach Brandon Roy is fine,” senior guard Kateel Barnett wrote to the paper. “Yes. He’s informed me he’s completely fine.”

Two other players, MarJon Beauchamp and P.J. Fuller, also took to Twitter on Tuesday to refute claims that Roy was shot. However, they quickly deleted their tweets.

It was to send out a statement and a get well soon message.

But, The Seattle Times reached out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office who confirmed that a man named Brandon Roy was indeed shot in Compton, but as of now, it only “appears” to be the former NBA All-Star. However, they said there’s no way they could actually confirm it because they “don’t ask those questions.”

So a Brandon Roy was shot, but it might not have been the former All-Star.

Bizarre.

Roy, a three-time All-Star, was one of the primer players in the NBA before his career was derailed by multiple injuries. After his career ended, Roy began coaching basketball. He coached Nathan Hale to a 29-0 record and won the Washington state championship this season.
