Trump says eventually he’ll be praised for firing Comey

President Trump predicted in a tweet on Wednesday that he will eventually be praised for firing FBI Director James Comey and restoring the integrity of the bureau.

“Comey lost the confidence of almost everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike. When things calm down, they will be thanking me!” Trump wrote.

The president abruptly fired Comey Tuesday evening saying he bungled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

“James Comey will be replaced by someone who will do a far better job, bringing back the spirit and prestige of the FBI,” Trump wrote minutes earlier.

He also shot back at Democrats who have characterized his firing of Comey as an effort to derail an FBI investigation into whether his campaign officials colluded with the Russians during the election.

“The Democrats have said some of the worst things about James Comey, including the fact that he should be fired, but now they play so sad!,” he said.

He also retweeted a link to an article that listed scandals during the time Comey helmed the bureau.

The article “10 Major Scandals on Comey’s Watch” appeared on the website Grabien News and was linked on the Drudge Report also made reference to Comey’s involvement to Clinton and the 2016 presidential election.
