The Christmas present arrived for Jets fans just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 25.
Instead of appearing under their tree, it popped up on their iPhones, laptops or tablets.
“Just wrote down everything I will achieve & more. I promise, 2018 is my year!” Jamal “Santa” Adams posted on Twitter on Christmas night.
Adams had just spent some time at home, putting pen to paper and writing down everything he wants to achieve in the new year. It is an annual tradition for the 22-year-old rookie safety.
“I just wanted to start fresh — new goals for this team, new goals for myself,” Adams told The Post on Wednesday about the list. “It ain’t just for football. It’s life. I had some time on my hands. I wanted to spend some alone time and reflect on this year.”
While the Giants are dealing with a crisis because of the immaturity of Eli Apple, a defensive back they selected in the first round of the 2016 draft, the Jets are enjoying the maturity of Adams, their defensive back selected in the first round this year.
Unlike Apple, Adams gets it. He has displayed a leadership way beyond his age in his first year with the Jets and provides hope for 2018 and beyond for this team and fan base.
