Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wife is following his lead on how to deal with the press — by avoiding questions at her own press conference.
First lady Chirlane McCray met with reporters at City Hall on Wednesday to announce a new website aimed at helping women entrepreneurs.
It was billed on her public schedule as including a Q&A — but McCray rushed out before the first question could be asked.
City Hall spokeswoman Olivia Lapeyrolerie claimed afterward that McCray had another event — which wasn’t listed on her official schedule — and took the blame for the misinformation.
She could not immediately say where McCray was headed.
The press conference announcing the Women.NYC website would have provided a rare chance to quiz McCray, who has taken on a more public role in recent months while considering a possible run for public office.
