It’s going to be a stormy day in West Hollywood.
The California city is proclaiming May 23 “Stormy Daniels Day” and giving the porn star a key to the city — in honor of her legal battle against President Trump.
“In these politically tumultuous times, Daniels has proven herself to be a profile in courage by speaking truth to power even under threats to her safety and extreme intimidation,” the city said in a statement announcing the event.
The key will be presented to Daniels — whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford — by the city council at a gay adult shop on Santa Monica Boulevard called Chi Chi LaRue on Wednesday afternoon. She’ll also be at the store from 7 to 9 p.m. to hawk a line of “Team Stormy” T-shirts, according to WEHOVille.
“Trump administration has been a direct threat to the people of the city of West Hollywood — our LGBTQ community, our immigrant community, women here in this community — so Stormy Daniels has really showed up as the woman to save the Republic,” Mayor John Duran said, according to ABC7.
Daniels is in the middle of a lawsuit against the president and his attorney Michael Cohen, so she can be freed from a non-disclosure agreement she signed before the 2016 election. She’s alleged she had a 2006 affair with Trump, and Cohen paid her $130,000 to stay mum about the supposed tryst.
The president previously denied knowing about the payment but recently admitted he became aware of it at some point. He denies having the affair.
