Famed photog Russell James says reality posed a hurdle for Kendall Jenner’s modeling career. “When we started out, I couldn’t put my finger on what was different about photographing her,” says James, who is fêting the launch of his new, limited-edition book “Angels” — featuring artful nudes of Jenner, Cindy Crawford and Candice Swanepoel. “I said, ‘You’ve got such exposure to being filmed that you actually project this public personality when the cameras roll. And if you’re going to succeed as a model with print cameras, you need to know how to connect with the camera as if it’s a person.’ ”
James says posing naked can be tough for the most seasoned of pros — even Cindy Crawford. “For Cindy, it’s almost like, ‘Bow down to the queen.’ But she has her own vulnerabilities,” says James, who recalls the supermodel giving herself a pep talk. “She said, ‘Damn it — I’m a mother, I’m a businesswoman, but I still want to have the right and ability to be sensual if I choose to be.’ ”
