It’s still no bargain.
Los Angeles’ Owlwood estate, a 10-acre property in Holmby Hills that hit the market in 2017 with an eye-popping price tag of $180 million, has slashed its price by $65 million.
Now the property can be yours for a cool $115 million.
Even with the eight-digit discount, Owlwood would crush the record for the most expensive home ever sold in Los Angeles County if it finds a buyer, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A Richard Meier-designed Malibu beach house that sold for $110 million in 2017 currently holds the title.
Owlwood has seen a handful of celeb owners over the years including screen legend Tony Curtis, who eventually sold the property to singing duo Sonny and Cher.
The estate’s current owner, a development group named Woodbridge, shelled out $90 million for the property in 2016. Woodbridge filed for bankruptcy in 2017, just weeks before the Securities and Exchange Commission charged the company with operating a $1.22 billion Ponzi scheme that defrauded more than 8,400 investors, according to the LA Times.
The Owlwood property includes three parcels. One is vacant, one fits a guesthouse and a pool, and the third has a nine-bedroom, 10-bathroom Italian Revival-style mansion designed in 1936 by architect Robert D. Farquhar for businessman C.H. Quinn.
Images included in the listing for the main house show multiple living and dining spaces rich with elegant period details such as wood paneling and ornate moldings. A staircase leads to the master suite, which encompasses a fireplace, a lounge and an office. Linda May and Drew Fenton from Hilton & Hyland share this listing with Coldwell Banker’s Jade Mills
