MTA employee who exposed himself to girls may have more victims: prosecutor

An MTA bus driver-in-training with a penchant for exposing himself to young girls may have more victims, a prosecutor said Monday.

The disturbing warning came as Matthew Wohlfahrt was arraigned on public lewdness and other charges for exposing his genitals to four girls, between the ages of 11 and 14, in two separate incidents in Brooklyn last week.

Prosecutor Eric Wells says the accused perv — who was driving his parents’ car during the Bay Ridge incidents and wearing his MTA garb — even asked the children if they’d like to join him in the vehicle after repeatedly asking the girls for directions to the nearest McDonald’s.

“Are you busy, or do you want to come in and watch me?” Wells told the court that Wohlfahrt asked one of the girls. That prompted one bystander in the gallery to exclaim, “Oh, hell no!”

“We are exploring the possibility of additional victims,” Wells said as he asked Judge Ellen Edwards in Brooklyn Criminal Court to set bail at $7,500.

In each instance, Wells said, the Brooklyn-born Wohlfahrt beckoned the tweens to his car to ask for directions to the fast food joint, at which point they noticed his pants were open and his penis was out.

Sporting a bowl cut and an inside-out T-shirt, the 28-year-old remained silent as his attorney, Russ Kaufman, told the judge his client “vehemently denies these charges.”

Edwards said she wanted the former city employee to undergo a mental health evaluation. Kaufman said his client had no criminal history and no history of mental illness.

And the lawyer noted that one of the children was unable to identify Wohlfahrt in a lineup. The other three victims did point him out in lineups, police sources said.

Wohlfahrt, who got out on $3,500 bail, declined comment as he left court hiding under a hood.

He’s due back Nov. 27.

In a statement issued Sunday, the MTA said the accused exhibitionist had been a probationary employee, and has been removed from service “without pay.”
