CTI Foods is recalling 14 tons of its frozen Jimmy Dean Heat ’n Serve Original Sausage Links because they may contain pieces of metal.
The privately owned Owingsville, Kentucky, company notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service of the potential danger on Monday after costumers reported finding “small string-like fragments of metal” inside the sausages, CTI said on its website. No injuries were reported.
The recall includes over 29,000 pounds of “Jimmy Dean HEAT ’n SERVE Original SAUSAGE LINKS Made with Pork & Turkey” with use-by dates of Jan. 31 and Jan. 19, according to a press release from the USDA.
Anyone with the food in their freezer should throw it away or return it to the store where they purchased the food.
A list of retailers carrying the possibly contaminated product will be on the FSIS website following an investigation, a USDA spokesperson told NBC.
