South Carolina dad found guilty of killing his 5 kids

A South Carolina father was found guilty on Monday for killing of all five of his children in an attempt to “send them to heaven,” a report said.

Timothy Jones, who was described as a fanatical religious fundamentalist, was convicted of slaying the kids and dumping their bodies in rural Alabama, according to South Carolina’s The State.

“This is just pure evil malice,” prosecutor Rick Hubbard told jurors in his final argument.

“He left his kids out there like garbage … He could have at least buried his kids. You know what? He left them out there for the wild animals. He left them in bags, knowing nature will take its course.”

The 2014 killings were triggered when Jones’ 6-year-old son, Nahtahn broke an electrical outlet in his mobile home. Nahtahn died of dehydration after being told to exercise for his punishment.

Jones — who believes that children should be strictly disciplined — then went to the store to buy a pack of cigarettes before deciding to strangle Merah, 8; Elias, 7; Gabriel, 2; and Abigail Elaine, 1.

The father confessed that he deliberately killed his other four children to send them to heaven where they could be together, the newspaper reported.

After the killing, Jones drove around for nine days with his children’s bodies in the back of his Cadillac Escalade. He eventually wrapped their remains in plastic and tossed them.

Jones pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. His defense argued that he had schizophrenia and didn’t know what he was doing when he killed his kids.

The jury will return to court on Thursday to decide whether Jones will receive the death penalty.
