A waiter in France was reportedly gunned down at a pizzeria near Paris after taking too long to bring a customer a sandwich.
Witnesses and restaurant workers said the fatal incident occurred Friday night when a customer became enraged because “his sandwich wasn’t prepared quickly enough” at the eatery in Noisy-le-Grand, the Guardian reported.
The customer then allegedly fired a handgun at a 28-year-old male waiter and fled the scene.
Emergency responders attempted to save the waiter, who was shot in the shoulder, but he died at the scene, according to the report. His identity hasn’t been released.
Police said they launched an investigation into the murder, and the shooter remains on the run.
The grisly killing left locals stunned in the suburb, which is 9 miles outside of Paris, the Guardian reported.
“It is sad. It’s a quiet restaurant, without any problems,” a 29-year-old woman told the outlet. “It just opened a few months ago.”
