It is never fun to get fired, and that appears to be especially true if it is by the Redskins.
According to the Washington Post, Jay Gruden was called into the Redskins offices at 5 a.m. by owner Dan Snyder and team president Bruce Allen. You may know Snyder and Allen as the two men ruining football in the nation’s capital long before Gruden came on the scene five seasons ago.
Snyder had told associates before the season that he planned on firing Gruden if the team suffered four early losses. As a thank you, Gruden was apparently allowed to coach a fifth loss against the Patriots. After the 33-7 defeat by New England, he was alerted Sunday night of the early-morning meeting.
